DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1998. This department is a thriving community of dedicated teachers and devoted students sharing the enthusiasm for Mathematics. The Department mainly offers graduate and postgraduate programmes in Mathematics.  The department offers B. Sc. Mathematics (Model II- Vocational) with Computer Science as the vocational course and Operations Research as the complementary course. This programme provides a strong background to the fundamentals of mathematics. There is a large demand for people with strong analytical skills and a broad-based background in the mathematical sciences. The 3-year B.Sc. programme will prepare a student to avail many diverse attractive opportunities. The department also offers M. Sc. Mathematics in self- financing stream. Post Graduate Programme is offered by the department to meet the growing demands of core mathematicians. The 2-year M.Sc. programme curriculum has been devised by the experts in the field which focuses not only on the conventional Mathematics course but also keeps in view of the current needs and demands in various upcoming fields.

The department has achieved good academic excellence throughout these years. Students of our department have secured top ranks in M.G University examinations. The department regularly conducts national/state level seminars and invited talks on relevant topics in Mathematics by eminent resource persons. This provides an opportunity for the students to get an insight of the subject besides the prescribed curriculum and to expose them to experts in Mathematics.

ACTIVITIES

The department organizes national /state level seminars and invited talks on various branches of mathematics for the students. This provides an opportunity for the them to get an insight of the subject besides the prescribed curriculum

The faculties of the department attend refresher courses, orientation courses, workshops, seminars, webinars etc. to enrich their knowledge in the subject.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Since the inception of the B.Sc. Mathematics programme, our students regularly secure ranks in the University examinations.

Many alumni have qualified for JRF, NET, SET, KTET etc. and some of them completed Ph.D.

Many alumni secured government jobs or placements in reputed firms through the recruitment drives conducted by various agencies.

ASSOCIATION

  •  The Mathematics association provides many opportunities for the students to learn more about them, their goals and their strengths. Students can also find out what they are good at, whether that’s multitasking, staying organized, generating ideas or serving others.  This self-awareness will be beneficial in their future career.

Vision

Empowering students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers through innovative mathematical education.

Mission

To provide a dynamic learning environment that fosters mathematical proficiency, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
